Applications Engineer

About the Role

Citrogene’s core business—advanced microfabrication of glass components and assemblies—is growing rapidly. To meet the needs of our expanding customer base, we’re looking for talented and motivated individuals to join our team.

We’re currently hiring an Applications Engineer, a hands-on and technically vital role focused on the fabrication of high-precision glass components, devices, and tools used across industries including medical devices, diagnostics, healthcare, life science, and semiconductor/consumer electronics.

If you enjoy working with your hands, solving problems in the lab, and being part of a collaborative team that’s building cutting-edge glass technology, we’d love to meet you.

What You'll Do

As an Applications Engineer you’ll support our process engineers to fabricate novel glass components and assemblies.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Chemical etching of glass and other transparent materials
  • Chemical and mechanical polishing of glass and other transparent materials
  • Cleaning and surface preparation of glass
  • Adhesive and non-adhesive bonding of glass components
  • Photolithography and other microfabrication processes
  • Hands-on work in wet chemistry labs and cleanroom environments
  • Following and improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for device fabrication, inspection, and testing
  • Conducting final inspection and quality control (QC) before customer delivery

What You'll Bring

  • Associate of Applied Science degree (or equivalent experience) in Electronics, Semiconductor Technology, or a related field
(Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree)
  • Knowledge and familiarity of wafer manufacturing processes (thin film deposition, reactive ion etch, photolithography, metrology, sputter etch) and logistics.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical/optical drawings and electrical schematics
  • A strong problem-solving mindset — creative, practical, and focused on solutions
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
A passion for learning new technologies and continuous improvement
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, start-up-style environment
  • Familiarity with cleanroom procedures, safety practices, and contamination control

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with chemical etching or precision glass manufacturing
  • Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity for delicate wafer or glass handling
  • Knowledge of process automation and control systems
  • Experience troubleshooting and improving technical processes
  • Background in microelectronics, optics, or medical devices within a cleanroom environment
