As Citrogene’s Process Engineer – Wet Chemical Material Processing, you will be expected to apply your experience and knowledge in the area of process engineering and apply that to our glass processing, glass cleaning, bonding and packaging, as well as assist management with developing and implementing manufacturing processes to address our ever changing customer product needs and challenges.

This job requires applicants to have earned their Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Electrical Engineering, Master’s degree in any of these fields is is a plus. This position is requires in the applicant to work directly at Citrogene office which is located in San Jose, California 95131.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead the wet chemical processing efforts as well as develop new processing techniques to produce novel glass components microfluidic, semiconductor and consumer electronics components, and medical implantable devices. This would include but not limited to:
    • Chemical etching of glass and other transparent materials.
    • Chemical and mechanical polishing of glass and other transparent materials.
    • Improve Citrogene’s current photolithography processes and develop novel new processes.
    • Maintain both the chemistry labs and Class 1000 cleanroom and all related equipment.
    • Work with the Citrogene team on optical and electrical characterization of fabricated devices to ensure devices are within the customer’s or internal product specifications. This includes testing of microfluidic devices post fabrication and packaging.
    • Develop and execute Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all wet chemistry processing this includes the development photolithography.
    • Perform experiments to support Citrogene’s product development, and troubleshooting.

Qualifications and Desired Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or other technical field. A Master’s degree in any other fields listed is a plus.
  • 3-5 years of industrial experience including developing process flows and hands-on wet chemical material processing in a cleanroom environment is required.
  • Fabrication experience with dry and wet etching, photolithography, 3D device fabrication, optical component handling, wafer bonding and wafer polishing.
  • Fabrication experience with compound glass/semiconductor materials and devices is required.
  • Experience with handling and cleaning clean glass components without downgrading the optical surfaces.
  • A strong knowledge of different optical metrology, surface profiling equipment, such as; SEM, EDS, XPS and FTIR is required is a plus.
  • Experience with surface chemistry, surface functionalization and biochemical assays is a plus.
  • Cleanroom experience is required.
  • Experience in developing, building, and applying novel microfluidic solutions.
  • Comfortable with rapid prototyping and injection molding is a plus.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD design software. Mask layout experience using L-Edit is a plus.
  • Must have experience maintenance and preventativemaintenance on equipment and tooling.
  • Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship is required.
